On Friday 17th June 2011, a Mégane Renaultsport 265 Trophy driven by Laurent Hurgon (Renaultsport development driver) broke the lap record for a Front Wheel Drive production car around the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany.
The time of 8 minutes 07.97 seconds was nearly 10 seconds faster than the previous record set by a Mégane Renaultsport R26.R in 2008. This made the Mégane Renaultsport 265 Trophy the quickest road going Renault ever, and perfect successor to the famed R26.R.
Limited to only 50 vehicles for the UK, this special Mégane has 191hp per tonne, and 360Nm of torque flexibly available between 3 and 5000rpm. The 265 Trophy is a full-on track day classic that’s equally at home in day-to-day driving.
Its legendary Cup chassis, with stiffer springs, dampers, anti-roll bar and grooved Brembo brake discs is mated with specially developed, F1-inspired Bridgestone tyres, for precise, predictable handling, wet or dry.
Lucky buyers of the Mégane Renaultsport 265 Trophy also received free access to all of the Renaultsport UK trackdays in 2012.
